■ 每兩年得自各領域中選出優良論文予以獎勵，獎勵數量以總論文數量之 5% 為原則，各領域獎勵論文數量亦以5%為原則。若某領域論文數量不足者得累積至下一期辦理。相近之領域得聯合甄選。
■ 提名作業於奇數年 (如：2005) 十月開始進行，就地物、物質、大氣、太空、海洋、水文六個領域，由各學門編輯分別由過去兩年內 (如：2003-2004) 已刊登之論文中搜尋，各學門編輯應徵詢客座編輯、副編輯及該年內卸任編輯之意見，於各個領域中各提名應獎勵論文篇數之兩倍。
■ 由總編輯將提名之論文送交國際顧問團 (International Advisory Board) 及期刊委員會評審各論文。
■ 由本刊總編輯及編輯就評審結果推薦得獎論文，若無合格論文可從缺。
■ 在本刊網站公布優良論文，於年會中表揚，並頒發獎金一萬元給每篇得獎論文之負責作者 (Corresponding author)。
■ 本辦法經民國90年9月3日第五屆第二次理監事聯席會議通過，自民國91年開始實施；民國94年12月21日第七屆第三次理監事聯席會議通過第一次修正；民國95年5月22日第七屆第四次理監事聯席會議通過第二次修正。

會議宗旨：
The Western Pacific Geophysics Meeting (WPGM) provided an opportunity for AGU members and members of the sponsoring societies in the western Pacific region, to attend a meeting that served the needs of geophysicists interested in studies in the western Pacific region. Papers on all related aspects of geophysical sciences were encouraged. The 2010 WPGM was held at the Taipei International Convention Center in Taipei, Taiwan.
